First, thanks to the peeps who gave me advice on where to ride in SF. I am really interested in getting into racing or some group training.

Any advice where to start at? Are there racing teams in San Francisco for someone who's been riding for a while but wants to begin racing or training for it?

I would also just be interested in a club type situation with weekly group rides that are at a good pace.

again, thanks

Attend the CityCycle all-level group ride that leaves year round from the corner of Union/Steiner at 9am. There's always some racers out there as well as some pretty strong weekend warrior types. That should give you a good idea of where you stand and if you'd want to race. You'll improve your group riding skills which will help you big time in races and if you can stay with the front group then you have a good idea that you'll also be fine in Cat5 road races.

Be sure to check out www.ncnca.org. That site has everything you need to know and more.

Also, be sure to do all the early bird crits to get in a ton of practice and good skills clinic stuff.

It's also CX season and there's a bunch of races on the calendar. Candlestick was just this Sunday, next one there is on Oct 24. Check it out:

Not a big time commitment as each race for C's is only 30 min. But guaranteed your lungs'll be flying out of your chest less than half way thru...

Can't use a road bike, but for beginners, MTB is doable. There always seem to be a few out there.
