Saturday I started team group rides, Sunday did Cyclocross (Little 5, hard dismounts, heavy bike etc.). Tonight I tried a recovery ride, unfortunently it was with a new kid who just wanted to go balls to the wall so I went faster then I would like, however the whole time I felt terrible, incredibly sore. Sunday night I drank tons of water, ate good etc. Today I drank lots and start feeling bad about 3. Right now I am stuck in my damn bed, legs are crap, I mean dead, any help to fix this some? Not to mention my back (I bit it at 20 MPH straight into a hay bale throwing me backwards OUCH) my shoulder is also totaled from that heavy ass bike. My biggest concern is walking, I can't freakin MOVE! PLEASE HELP!

Well, gee, does this sound like over-doing it? What you needed Sunday, let alone Monday, was a very easy recovery ride. And then you didn't exercise the discipline to go easy when you REALLY needed it (yesterday). Sorry, but eating and drinking properly can't really help this situation, though NOT eating and drinking properly can make it worse. If you want to go for a recovery ride today, you can, even though it will still hurt. It's also OK to take the day off. While youth is on your side, you've gotten a glimpse of the reality of life - you can't go hard all the time and not expect to hurt. You'll get over it in a couple of days, and maybe even learned a little about your limits. If you incorporate this knowledge into your training, then you will have benefited from the experience. Note that "then" refers to a time reference, whereas "than" refers to a comparison situation, as in "faster THAN I would like." :)

Awww geeez but I have a ITT tomorrow! :) It is tough to do a recovery ride when I can't find a run without hills, I think today I am just going to say to heck with it and relax. The TT is not until 5:50 tomorrow so I am doing good on time. I am just amazed at how painful this is!

Sounds like your TT is going to be crap. There appears to be no benefit in you doing this tomorrow. Skip it, ride easy (by yourself), and recover. Hurting yourself more in a TT isn't going to help you more down the line. Sometimes people forget that to go faster, sometimes you have to go slower.

I think I may be doing a recovery TT, I already paid for the damn thing, nothing wrong with coming in last place, it's a tiny TT only 6 miles.

Man that sounds like an oxymoron to me.

No such thing my friend. As the above poster mentioned, it's definitely an oxymoron. Any TT I've ever ridden, has been at about 80-90% of maximal effort, or more. Chalk this one up to experience, and skip it. You'll be better off.

You get stronger on rest days. They're more important than speed days so make sure you incorporate them into your schedule.

Well why can't I just cruise around? I have no intentions of speed :) plus I want my free damn socks that I paid for :) There is no chalk it up to experience when your broke in college, I paid $10 for this damn race and I will do it if I have to walk my stupid bike haha.

The answer to your problem my friend is BEER lots of good cold BEER - pretty soon those aches will be a distant memory. If that doesnt work then RUM certainly will.

Here's to overdoing it - cheers :)

Good Luck
