Assuming this test is as effective as they say and they've run it through the Olympics and the Vuelta why hasn't anyone else been caught? Looking back at the Manzano affair it seems like "blood packing" was a fairly common cheat used regularly w/ Kelme at least.
Did they only test the winners at the Olympics? Is there any data about how many riders have been subjected to this test?
It just strikes me odd that if the whole peloton was tested only one guy was nabbed. Perhaps these were only randomly conducted a few riders.
Anyone have any extra info?

They only test the top three in each race/stage plus a random selection (not sure how many though).
If they tested the entire peloton after every race they'd need thousands of lab technicians and administrators.

I have read somwhere that 380+ riders have been tested with this test with only one positve.
I seriously doubt it.Qutoe from Velonews http://www.velonews.com/news/fea/7027.0.html
The answer to all these questions would seem to be yes. However, in defense of the test, flow cytometry does work. Hundreds of athletes have been tested using this technique and only a few positives have been found. It
It not the article that I have reffered to (I really forgot where it was), but statement is very similar ("few positives" instead of one may be because it is not stated here that all tested athletes were cyclist)

now we know what Lance does..... when not condemming those who speak out against doping or even dare question his association with Dr Ferrari or even hint at what he REALLY does to 'prepare'..... Lets have him tested fully for blood doping too

and multiple stage winner LA is tested after winning stages and holding GC. As previously stated in this post, they test the top 3 finishers besides the random testing on other participants and randoms done in off season. so whatever he 'does' it isn't showing which kinda kills your whole thought (or lack there of) process. At interbike in Las Vegas, every pro who is there on promo has to notify where they are so they can be subjected to the possibility of random testing. Kinda like being on parole for drug offenses, the authorities have a right to just drop in and test you. Get familiar with the system before you start dropping accusations. In reality if LA is doping he's the wiliest there is as he's the most tested rider in the peloton. As I stated in another post, if he is / was a doper he most likely would have retired after #6. Why would he jeopordize his social and financial situation by continuing racing? If he's caught it will completely discredit his whole career and all those cancer patients who look up to him will lose a 'leader'. It makes no finacial nor PR sense if he is doped to continue, he'd be better off resting on his supposed 'drug aided laurels' and keep his high $ endorsements.
