I'l a longtime lurker who decided to de-lurk with the coming of the new board. Professor of Scientific Marxism at a university that would cause Live Steam to lose control of his functions if I named it aloud. Find a photo you like that in some way symbolizes you. (M-W definition: 'an embodiment (as of a concept or philosophy) often in a person.' Put it somewhere on your computer where you can find it. Size it to no bigger than 80 pixels in either dimension (it has to be that little thumbnail size.)

Then, on this site, go to the user control panel and click on 'edit avatar.' Then 'browse' to wherever you have the photo on your PC. Click and you're done. It's pretty easy. I imagine avatars being changed with some regularity ...
