Hello all,

Can anyone give me suggestions for a scenic century in CT for this coming weekend? If you can give me a link or website suggestions those would also be much appreciated, thanks!

The Soundcyclists of Fairfield county have a B+/B ride scheduled for this coming Sunday Oct 17 which is an unsupported century ride out of Guilford CPL off of exit 59 on I-95. The ride details are below. I am sure you would be welcome if this is a pace that you be are able to keep. If interested contact one of the ride leaders.

Coastal Century, B+/B combo, R, 100 miles, 8:15/8:30.
RL: (B+) Jon Swallen, 254-0164 or jswallen@att.net; and (B)
Leslie Johnson, 488-2063 or ljohnson@wilbursmith.com. Meet
at I-95 Exit 59 CPL in Guilford, about 45 miles from Westport,
60 miles from Stamford. Come enjoy the peak fall foliage with
your fellow riders on this late season century ride designed
exclusively for SCBC. The distinctive, original course maximizes
the scenery and minimizes the climbing (just 6,100 feet
of elevation gain and only two big hills, both in the first 45
miles) as it winds clockwise through rural farmland, state
forests and then the coastline communities from Old
Saybrook to Guilford. Unlike other century rides, there’s no
registration fee! But you’re advised to pack some extra energy
bars and bring $20 for the well-stocked food stores we’ll be
patronizing at miles 28, 54 and 76. Both RLs will keep their
groups together, regrouping as necessary. In return, we ask
that "B" riders be able to average in the low 16s and "B+" riders
in the upper 17s in order for the groups to finish between
3:45 and 4:30pm. There is a bailout option at the second food
stop for an 80 mile route. Any cancellation decision due to
weather will be made at 6:45am on the day of the ride. Please
RSVP to Jon Swallen or Leslie Johnson by Oct 16th.

route 7 along the housatanic river is very scenic. It goes as far north as Canada I think. also, route 44 is nice. I've driven it from Hartford to Hyde Park, NY a few times. Very nice.

Check out the CT MS Bike Tour (http://www.nationalmssociety.org/ctn/event/event_detail.asp?e=67 ) (which includes a century ride) coming up this June. I did the century ride last year (my first) and had a great time even though it rained for half the ride.
