Anybody else hate Saturday? At the lunch stop my partner and I sat huddled under the big delivery truck to stay out of the wind. On the other hand, Sunday was great once it warmed up a bit.
And is Tabor really 20% grade max? That must be why it hurts so bad!

It was quite cold both days. Saturday was more consistently cold, where Sunday, layers came off. On the other hand, it started much, much colder on Sunday.
The hills were there, but, to be honest, most of the climbs were comparable to some of the climbs I do here in Cincinnati. It pushed me, but I didn't feel it was an order-of-magnitude stretch that I was expecting. Or, I simply psyched myself out.
The fall colors were certainly out, and I really enjoyed seeing that. On Sunday morning, there was the stamped of cows as we rolled by that was neat. Plus, having a band at every food stop was quite fun.
All in all, a quite enjoyable first Hilly Hundred.

We don't have hills like that in my neck of the woods. Tabor was a fun climb. My friends and I camped out and there was frost on my sleeping bag Sunday morning. Burr!
Fried chicken at the lunch stop? That was odd.
Fun ride!

I grew up near Bloomington. Haven't ridden around there, since I moved away 19 years ago before I started riding. The Hilly looks like an interesting ride. Until I saw the couple of ride reports on it that people posted here, I never realized it was a 2-day event. How do you like that? On the one hand, I like the idea of the touring/social aspect to it. OTOH, 50 miles/day doesn't seem like much for just a 2-day event. (I kind of like the idea of doing a 5-day 50 mile/day tour, but for just 2 days, I think I'd want 65-75/day.)

Some hardy souls will do both routes in one day.

Any day I can be on my bike is a good day. Hopefully next year will bring back the short sleeve jersey and shorts weather of the past three Hillys. I can't say I wasted much time out there since it was cold. I only stopped twice each day and kept my stops down to ten minutes. Finishing at 11:300 and a hot shower was good!
