I rarely use my rear brake, but I was out for a spin a little over a week ago and had to brake fairly quickly to avoid a car that ran a stop sign. While braking, I heard a ping sound and then after avoid the car I noticed my rear brake was rubbing. Stopped to check out the problem, but couldn't quite determine what was wrong in the fading light of the day. So I released the rear brake mechanisms and rode the last few blocks home to check out the problem. I noticed that the brake centering screw was loose and the little u-shaped plastic piece that holds the spring in place was gone, effectively making the rear brake on the right side unadjutable. Took it into the shop and they said I might be the first person to have ever broken this part in the country???? Anyone ever heard of this happening before. I only have 1,000 miles on my new ride and no crashes. The LBS sent the whole brake into Quality and I guess I'll find out if it is covered under warranty, or not in the next week or so.

Thanks for any feedback ... :)

Nope, I can't say I've ever had that problem on any of the Campy brakes I've had (Centaur & Record). Probably just a fluke with yours.(?)
