Checked the profile, he said he is AWOL. "I'm outta here." Guess he's bust reading www.drudgereport.com and mind-melding with Rupert Murdoch. Hey, hope you don't come back! If you want to vent get in line with all the OxyContin-riddled dittoheads and dial the Rush Limbaugh debacle!

Looks like I can add you to my ignore list. Whether or not you agree with Doug (speaking of dittoheads), he's always reasonable- certainly more so than Steam or any number of other posters- AND Doug has the balls to post behind his real name... unlike 99.9% of the others (self included) around here.

Still, this is a cycling forum... nothing to get that worked up about.

I agree. I've been around here for over three years and remember Doug as the voice of reason who setup the general discussion forum pact. I hate to see people chase away a good person.

I agree with DG. I enjoyed Doug's posts, thought he was pretty level headed. It's a shame when folks have to stoop to personal attacks to justify thier differing opinions. (I don't recall Doug ever doing this)

And this is a bike forum, where his knowledge and insights on the subject will be missed by me anyway.

Everyone comes back. It's like a goddamn cult.

He always came back before. Expect him back again. Expect him to leave again, too.

Doug's not dead, he's just got more intelligence and class then those here who have to resort to personal attacks.

Yeah and Ed knows that from experience. We all drank the Kool Aid. Doug has left 3-4 times in the past. I've lost count. Usually in a bluster of angry posts about how the liberals here are out of control. He comes back later as if nothing was ever said. I miss the guy, but he seemed to be a bit on edge lately. Maybe if GW get re-elected he will return to see what's up?

Okay, I'll give you that; his post were well-thought out, even if I disagreed with the contents. That's more than other people. But what is your name, Mystery Man from Minneapolis? I'll show you mine if you show me yours. ;)

And also, I think the ignore list thing is almost without merit. Sure, if somebody makes posts without verbs or vowels, that's lame, but it just seems like a smaller version of Doug's self-imposed exile. Don't want to read a post by me? Don't click on it.

Do we get to pick on him while he's gone, though? Because I've been around here three or four years, and while (as the other post said) I REMEMBER him as a voice of reason and an articulate spokesman for his views, I haven't seen that lately. I've begun to suspect he and Live Steam are the same person. But, shoot, I thought Old Ed and Red Menace were the same person, too.

Doug was a lot better when he allied himself with TJeanloz instead of Steam.

Doug can be a very reasonable and intelligent poster. But he is not always and does not seem able to admit that.

by feelings of inadequacy. Despite his *best* attempts he has been unable to wrest control of this board from the libbie majority, and with bill back in treatment he just felt *overwhelmed* given the pressures of the campaign......It is perfectly understandable to me but of course I am a *professional.*

Obviously you aren't on my ignore list... but threatening to put you there is as personal and nasty as I get around here ;)

Frankly, your entire post speaks to a larger issue- how divided people are over politics/war/election. Steam might be a Newsmax-reading dittohead... and I actually read Drudge to see what the opposition is smoking...

Tis the symptom of the season.

Everyone should eat some Halloween candy, from Bill's shrill war whoopin' to AJS's shrill cries of neo-fascism.

Eat some damned candy and goto bed without brushing your teeth. You'll all have other stuff to worry about.

I've gotta assume this is a fine representative of the demograph.

I'm sure Doug is hiding out of sheer horror.

by feelings of inadequacy.

As he should be.... not even able to do the 508 on a fixie... I'd be hangin' my head in shame and pulling the plug too ;-)

I think the final nail in the coffin was the realization that his esteemed Libby nemesis(es?) on the board are actually right about the whole Bush- Kerry thing. This caused his head to implode like some kind of wannabe dwarf star

I saw a t-shirt a while back that Doug brought to mind when he asked to get banned from the board:

"Help, I'm talking and I can't shut up!"

Just a warning. Doug said he was pulling up an leaving until after the ellection, which mind you, is only a week away. He'll be back. If Bush wins he will be back in force.
