Looking for any advice regarding replacement chains. I've always stuck with Campy (10spd) chains vs. Wipperman, Mavic etc, but I'm starting to wonder if those are viable choices as well. I've also read that you can use SRAM's 89R 9spd chain on a Campy 10spd setup. True? False? What are your impressions and/or experiences?

tried one on my Chorus 10sp equipped bike as that was all the LBS had in stock, it runs and shifts at least as well as a C-10 chain, and came w/ an extra pin so I can remove it at least once......have seen them as cheap as $30 also...

I run on on my bike with no problem at all. It's also a few dollars cheaper than Campy.

Another alternative is the Interloc (IRD) Sport 10sp. chain which also has a quick link that can be removed without a tool. I just set up a new frame with Campy 10sp. and, as my budget was running low, purchased a new IRD chain off eBay for $20. It was actually being auctioned off by Glory Cycles in FL, who have them on sale for $25. So far the setup shifts like butter and is as quiet and smooth as one can expect. I guess longevity will be the big question. They also make some sort of Teflon impregnated chain but I hear that is a piece of crap....

(More to do with ease of servicing + cleaning rather than types of 10sp chains)
You can use the Connex 10 sp link with Record chains.
Run one with no problems on both my Campag bikes for the last 6 months.
You do have to make sure the link is installed the correct way up though.
Nothing better in my experience. I use the wipperman connex link if I want to remove the chain for some reason, otherwise I install the HD-L pin with an ordinary chain tool, draping the chain over the BB shell to eliminate tension on the chain while installing the pin.
I found the wipperman chain to be noisier than campy.
The SRAM chain is the same width as a Campy 9 chain and results in very little clerance between the cogs. It works OK, but the derailleur adjustment is more sensitive and I occasionally got a bit over overshift (riding up the next larger cog) with a SRAM chain.

I'm in the midst of an "upgrade" to the compact gearing and always match a new chain to a new cassette. The last item I need to purchase is the chain and I've read/heard about numerous sources using the C10 with the Connex link. All seem to be positive. I use the Wipperman 10 chain and actually find it a bit on the noisy side myself. I appreciate your input.
Here's (http://www.campyonly.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=133&highlight=) an interesting thread about using different links with C10's and other chains with Campy drivetrains.

Why fix what works so well. I get 3,000 to 4,000 miles out of a Campy c-10. It's good enough for me. They run silent and shift well. I do use the Connex also since it makes it so much easier to clean the drive train.

It seems to me any chain that's supposed to be at the high-end of the line (D/A 10) should last longer than 1200 miles, even if they are cheaper per unit. But it is good to learn what some other's are using and why.

I've found the Campy chains to be the most durable of the alternatives. You pay a little more but if you take into account the number of miles you get, it's not really any cheaper to buy anything else.
And as you say, they are quieter.
