Beautiful sunny morning in Baltimore...

My shaddow paced me the entire length of the bridge next to Penn Station in downtown Baltimore at 6:45am.

I had my camera with me so I whipped it out for a quick shot and thought these came out cool enough to post.

Have a good one,

RB

Nice pictures. Makes me wonder why I didn't ride in today with my fixed. How long of a commute do you have and are the drivers downtown reasonable with cyclists?

I was scoping phattire.com. That Sidi shoe poem is hillarious. http://www.phattire.net/shoepoem.html

I too am am huge Sidi fan. I've had a pair of Dominators since '97 that I wore for my commute this morning. I just can't kill them. When I got a newer pair last year on sale, I almost felt bad. I've got four pairs of Sidi shoes in all. I call it my italian shoe fetish.

I really don't have much of a commute at all. I used to ride to work everyday (5 miles) but I had an accident 7 weeks ago and shattered my right wrist. I'm finally back on my bike but my wrist bones aren't quite heeled just yet. I've got a big screw through my scaphoid and still don't have much range of motion yet.

I only commute about 12 blocks through downtown to the bus stop, lock up and ride the bus into work.

Give me 4 more weeks and I'll be able to ride the whole way.. can't wait!

Glad you liked the sidi poem. I crack myself up, but yes, I do love my sidis. I got mine in 97 when I was working at a shop in Pittsburgh. Some guy came in who wasn't happy with the color of his mail ordered Dominator 4's and I offered to by them for 40 bucks. Wahoo! This is still the best deal I've ever gotten on any type of bike gear.

Your shoes are identical to mine man... too funny.

Glad you liked phattire.net

Your photos make me feel guilty for not riding to work today. I rode on Monday and yesterday -- both great days for commuting. The weather was great again today in Baltimore, but I was up until 2:30 a.m. watching the election returns and was too under the weather today to ride.

Hi Mark,

Yeah, the wrist is coming around pretty slowly. I got doored by a parked car on 29th right in front of the Paper Moon Diner about 7 weeks back. Doctor says that in about 4 weeks I will be able to ride, with my full weight on my hoods without any pain. Right now, that's the only thing stopping me from riding.. it just hurts too much to go any real distance.

I'll get ahold of you when I'm able to ride again; I'm looking forward to putting in a lot of miles this winter.

No brakes, huh? Go for it.

Your site is pretty cool. I like the video of the guy dropping off of his roof. The gutters look a little mangled....how do you explain THAT to a spouse? "Sorry dear, I was riding my bike around on the roof and I accidently ran over them."

Hola,

Yeah, standard track bike; no brakes. Super simple commuter bike.

The guy dropping off the roof is me haha. It was my buddy's roof and his wife was super pissed when she watched the video of me skidding across the new shingles they had just put down that summer. ooops...

Glad you like phattire,

RB

Ahhh! So you are *THAT* friend, the one that your buddy's wife wishes would either break his neck or move away to Zimbabwe.

I think that we have found yet another a fundamental difference between the sexes: how we feel about riding bicycles on the roof of your house. Or your buddy's house.

Actually, this gives me a bit of an idea. I've been writing (or trying to write) a piece for Cyclingnews that has mutated into an exploration of the subtle differences between men and women. I've put it to one side, but this video gives me a bit of inspiration. Would you mind if I linked to your website/clip and riffed on it a bit? I don't know if Cyclingnews would run it, but the idea of grown men jumping their bikes off of the roof and then having to explain it to an annoyed wife is too funny not to play with.

More than welcome to, hope it helps! Let me know how it turns out eh?

My guess is a Bianchi Pista.
