To me, Kerry and Edwards are employing their version of "I feel your pain," Clintonesque insincere pandering bullsh!t. They are being fashionable. They are taking a shot at getting more votes from wearing the highly visable bands. They are using them in an attempt to identify with some voters, which is nearly everyone, as we all are touched by cancer.
Let them make cancer research a significant campaign issue and they might have more credibility. (If they have, I've sure missed it.)
No, this has very little to do with the cycling vote; it has to do with an emotional appeal to everyone who might be influenced by such things. Instead of wrapping themselves in the flag, they are wrapping themselves in a little yellow band. Same idea.
I think it's disgustingly opportunistic, but of course, I'm biased, as that belief is framed by everything Kerry has said and done for the past 30 or so years. It's consistent behavior."
Now it's revealed Elizabeth Edwards herself has cancer. If your twisted view of Edwards was true, he would have made this public during the campaign, using it as a sympathy card. Instead, the illness was purposefully kept out of the campaign. Please take this opportunity to search your heart and recognize how rabid political hatred can blind you to genuine human suffering. ________________
