Earlier this year I bought a road bike with Richey Aero Comp wheels and Continental Sport 1000 tires. Ever since, I have been unable to get the tire back onto the wheel when trying to fix a flat, no matter how long I struggle with it. I didn't have this problem in the past. I am wondering if certain wheels and/or tires are more difficult to work with than others, and -- if so -- if anyone can suggest different wheels and/or tires? I am not especially interested in "high performance".

Wider tires have the additional advantage of being easier to mount on any rim. It's cheaper to change to better tires rather than more expensive wheels.

Conti's are always hard to mount. BTW, Sport 1k's are junk, so just throw them away....

Never have a problem with conti 4-seasons going on my Elites. 2 tire irons taking them off and just my hands putting them on.

Thank you very much for the advice and helpful link. I certainly will try wider tires.

Thanks for the reply. I am going to try wider tires, as advised by another reply, and I will be sure to stay away from Conti's.

Not ALL Contis. The Sport 1000's stink. The Grand Prix, Ultra 2000 and some others are quality tires. Every mfgr makes at least ONE stinko product!

Then you'll stay away from some good tires,GP3000 and the 4-seasons are pretty good, pretty long lasting and prety flat free, depending where and how you ride of course.
