Hi,

Sorry if this has been covered, I was unable to find the answer by searching.

My bike, like the owner is mostly obsolete. It has a 1992 Campy Chorus deraileurs, 8-speed rear. But I set it up to with a 7-speed Dura-Ace freewheel and a Campy 7-speed thumb shift lever. The shift lever is starting to ghost shift, and I'd like to get rid of my Profile aero Delta bars, and go with standard drop bars instead. The least expensive option I've been able to come up with (besides down-tube shift levers) is bar end shifters.

My question is, does anyone know where I could find Campy 7/8-speed bar-end shift levers? Or does anyone know if Shimano would work in this case? I considerd Modulo Morphos brake/shift levers, but the user reviews are not encouraging. If I have to change out the entire drivetrain, I might as well buy a whole new bike.

Campy 7 and 8 spacing is 5mm, cog to cog. Shimano 7 speed spacing is the same.
You're going to have to find either Campy 8 speed bar end or 8 speed down tube shifters. 8 speed Ergo levers are another option.
The only other option is friction shifters. Freewheels are getting hard to find. You can use 7 speed Shimano, 7 speed Campy, or 7 speed Sachs. They all have 5mm spacing

Thanks Mr. Grumpy.

I guess I wasn't too clear. Will Shimano 7 or 8 speed bar end shifters work with my setup? I understand that the freewheel cog spacing is the same, but it's not clear to me that the leverage ratio is the same for Campy 7/8 speed shift levers and Shimano.

I can find Shimano bar-end shift levers, but I'm not having any luck with Campy.
