For the first part, there's a forum jump at the top and bottom of the page that will take you back. Also, there is a hieracrchy link just above the light blue menu bar.

Not sure what you mean on the second part. Be sure to use the "Hybrid" display mode. Also, there is now a "sort-by" latest thread option.
