A real newbie question here, but I can't seem to find the answer through searches on the net. I was wondering which legs (swim, bike, run) the transition times are added to in a tri?

Thanks!

Chris

I was going to do a tri a few years ago, but my knees and ankles whacked out while walking the course the day before, so instead I volunteered in the bike transition area. Anyway, at the Mrs. T's in Chicago they had timing mats at the entrace and exit of the bike trans area, so they could get your bike split, run split, swim-to-bike transition time length, bike-to-run transition length time, and the swim time with the short sprint from the water to the bike area which turned into a mini-run all its own. From what I read later from participants they got five times plus their total elapsed overall time. The trans times were not added to any individual leg. I could be wrong, I think bits of my memory fall out with my hair loss. ;)

If the race is chip timed the transitions will generally be seperate, otherwise T1 is generally(not always) with the bike and T2 with the run.
