Our local biking group just got the go ahead to fix up the local Velodrome that has been in disrepair for about 25 years! How exciting is that? A group of bicyclists in the area got together and cleaned it up and showed that there is still a demand for bike racing in a circle. THF reality's Michael Staenberg is funding our revitalization efforts.
We still have some hurdles to jump over and through, but we need information on Track Bikes.
Any recommendations on Track Bikes? What to look for, what to avoid, etc would be greatly appreciated.
There are a couple of reviews on here on Road Bike Review, but since there hasn’t been any real racing in St. Lou for a while, we’re looking for some references.
Thanks and hopefully we'll meet you in St. Lou!

Talk to Bianchi USA, Specialized, Fuji America, KHS... basically, anyone who sells track bikes/frames. See if they'll help out with a sponsorship, or maybe at least a rental fleet discount on some rental/loaner bikes. If you play your Cards right (get it? Cards? In St. Louis? Oh, never mind...) they'll see that there's a whole market that's being revived by your groups work. By having bikes for loan or rent, lots of people who wouldn't otherwise be able to will have the opportunity to learn the joys of the velodrome.
Good luck, and keep up the good work!

I've just gotten back into cycling, as a recreational rider only, but if I'm in St. Louis, I think it would be great to stop in and watch some races.
Have fun and post updates will you?
Best of luck -

I certainly will keep everyone updated on the track and our improvements. Thanks for the great information. The Kissena Velodrome is a great story and it is one of the reasons that we kept forging ahead.
Thanks

I'm over in KC. If there is anything I can do to help out, I'll be glad to try to fit it into my schedule. A couple of Land Mangers have shown some interest in a velodrome, and being able to show them a working one nearby would be fantastic.
