So I have done some fast group rides and done one race and considering joining a local club that holds races roughly every other weekend. It will be in NYC so if anyone on RBR races there please chime in.

Anyway, the point of my question is should I race with crappy equipment thinking it may get damaged or should i race my nice stuff? Example, I have a cannondale CAAD 5 with Campy Shamal wheels and record/chorus kit but I also have a no-name Ti frame with centaur/cxp wheels and mirage/avanti/centaur mix. Any ideas as to which ones I should race?

I could always mix and match wheels/parts if I need to but I was just wondering what the general philosophy on this sort of thing is.

Thanks for your help!

Race it all. I do. You do enough of these things and it's very advantageous to have more than one rig. Stock up on parts and wheels.

over the CXP wheels on just about any race. As to which bike, it's up to you. You could set one up for TT. Or, you could use your least favorite bike for Crits, or other close contact races and the nicer bike where the risk of crashes are reduced. Save the Shamals for racing and use the CXPs for training and backup.

Just race it, no since in having it if you do not use it :).

Only race what you can afford to replace.

Crashes happen, things break in them.
