I've noticed that Felt gets almost no discussion on the boards and was wondering why that is? They have a range of bikes from the quality entry level through some pretty high end racing bikes, and seem about on par for features/price with most brands. Is it just that they're still so new they don't have a real history of performance to be evaluated and compared or is there something else?

I think the lack of time on the larger market is alot of it. I came close to buying a Felt about a year ago, but found an equivalent Trek at the same price and went with the "known commodity."
I think the other factor is that those who are familiar with Felt's history consider it to be primarily a triathlon niche company, which no longer necessarily accurate.
They seem to be good bikes and as you said on par with others as far as features for the dollar, maybe even a slightly better deal in most cases.

Hmmm, I wasn't aware of their history as a niche brand, that would explain a lot. I wound up getting an F80 because for my budget there wasn't a whole lot else comparable that appealed to me. IBEX makes a similar bike with slightly better components but I couldn't find anyone with one I could see/touch/ride and decided to go with the Felt from my LBS. For the money I'm very pleased, and I'm a casual enough rider that it's more of a bike than I am a rider. :)

I'll probably have to change the seat but am still getting the fit down and since it's only uncomfortable and not to the point of pain I'll see if it breaks in (or I do) and gets more comfortable. I imagine I'll upgrade to 105 or Ultrega levers in a year or two but otherwise I'm happy with it. I've had a few trek's and specialized mountain bikes over the years and I can't see any real quality difference between the brands. Design philosophy differences yes, but not quality.

They will be riden in the TDF so that will get them noticed a bit more.

What team(s)? That should be a big boost for Felt.

I picked up an F65 last year and I really like it. I'm the only one I've seen on group rides that has one and I get a lot of questions about it. There are now 3 shops in my area that carry them, so I imagine that will start to change. I have to agree that they are a big bang for the buck.

...they are not racing the TDF this or any year in the near future. Count on one American team maximum in that race at all times, a spot postal occupies until a time of their choosing...
