Anybody know what the standard measurement to the inside chainring on a regular road crankset is? I'm in the process of gathering information for a fixie project, and like the idea of putting one of Spot Bikes bash rings in the outside chanring position to protect my pants, etc. But I know that will mess with chainline stuff, so I'm trying to figure out what the changed measurement would be for when I look at hubs.

Something around 42mm for a regular road double. Outer ring on a double is usually about 47mm.

If you use one of those Spot guards, then you don't have to get shorter chainring bolts. Typically, the inner ring is spaced at ~ 42mm for the chainline. When using a track hub, you will have an ~ 42.5mm chainline. Thats spot-on in my book (no pun).
Works well, looks good, saves pants and shoelaces from certain death. Do it.
