I am going to shell it our for a new road frame. I want comfort for when I put in the miles, speed and responsivness always and excellent handling that is stable and exciting to ride. I am looking at a Seven Axiom or a DeRosa King Carbon. Will carbon last?

Carbon will last a long time, but titanium will last longer in most circumstances. I've read reviews of the De Rosa King that indicated it wasn't the most comfortable bike. I'd lean towards the Seven myself.

RAcycles has 03 Giant once team carbon frames for 1500 bucks,not bad.
