I've been making progress with my fixed Zurich project. I think have just about everything I need. I have two questions that I'm hoping someone here can help with: (i) Does anyone have a source for a cheap cog and lock ring; and (2) can I run a QR on the rear or should I stick with a solid axle with track nuts?

Here is my parts list to date:

Frameset: LeMond Zurich
Crank: Ultegra 172.5
Chainring: 42 (or 44 depending on cog availability - I'm planning on about 80 inches)
Chain: Shimano 3/32
Wheels:
front - Mavic Open SUP on Ultegra hub
rear - Mavic MA3 on Suze flip/flop hub
Bars - Tsunami bull horn
Lever - Tektro Aero
Brake caliper - Tektro
stem - Profile
Saddle - SLR
Post - Coda

I like the grip of nuts on a solid axle. The wheel almost never slips. Just have a 15mm closed-end wrench in your pack/bag and you can always get it off or tighten the chain. Even a crescent wrench.

Harriscyclery has, or had, the Park peanut butter wrench, which I've used and works fine. Surly carries the Jethro Tule, which includes a bottle opener for maintaining hydration.

Try IRO Cycle for cog and lockring. Email or call them they don't list everything on the website.
