What happened to Super Mario in the first stage of Tirreno-Adriatico? Did he even try to contest the sprint? Doesn't seem like it... Hope he's decided to re-think his season to really peak for the Tour.

Judging from the pictures on cyclingnews.com I'd guess he gave up when he couldn't win. You can see him in the saddle, sitting as guys are sprinting around him coming to the line.

I don't like the way he quits when he realizes he's beat. Zabel always gives it a go. did Mario have his train? Personally I think there's a new boss in town and he rides a Pinarello. methinks this spells the end for Mario.
