It was 5 degrees F when I left my house this frigid morning. It was dark and the roads were icey. I managed to make it into work without slipping out once but I went pretty slow today.
Friday I went and got a lot of MUCH NEEDED winter riding gear. I rode in today with a full Bell Weather get up. Insulated wind proof winter riding tigts, Bell Weather wind/rain proof jacket, head sock, mittons, I was super warm the whole way in! I'm a believer! I looked like a ninja riding into work today... a warm one.
Had a great weekend and got 2nd at in the rookie catagory of a messenger race here in Baltimore this past Saturday. What a blast! Unfortunately, I didn't risk bringing my camera so I dont have any photos for you guys.
!!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS !!!

and congrats on your race finish, and on staying warm. It was a little breezy this morning. My commute rules say to drive on mornings like this. My consolation was to do bike maintenance last night.

You forgot to report the "best" part about today -- the wind. Unless things were different downtown at 6:30 a.m. than they were at my house, you also had a 15-30 mph headwind on the downtown-work leg of your commute. I like cold weather, but this is too much for me to take (on a bike, that is).

I wish I had throwing stars for my commute sometimes...

You're right. Everytime I headed West, which is 90% of the second half of my commute, I had a strong headwind. I stayed toasty the whole way in though. I feel great having the proper gear for once!

I was bummed I couldn't see the start of the race on Sat. glad to hear it went well. Good to see you made it in ok. Sounds like you got your cold weather gear just in time. What kind of baclava are you using? I need one of those.

I looked at the label in it and all it says is "Traverse Bay" Made in USA. I remember ordering it out of, I think, Nashbar back in '96 and it was called a "head sock" I think... Mine's pretty old, but works great.
