after a few weeks of lurking here, mtbr and bikeforums.net i decided to build up a fixie for my winter commuter/ training bike. i used an old schwinn lugged steel frame that i ground all of the extraneous pieces off of, along with an IRO rear wheel and a cheapie front wheel.
it went on its maden voyage last night, a 5 mile ride to my GF's parets house. man was it great i must say i am hooked.
if you are thinking about building one i say do it it was actually really easy and its a blast to ride even in the -5 degree temps we have in WI today.
now i have a question a buddy owes me a favor so he agreed to powdercoat my frame for me. he can do just about any color. what do you think i should go with? i already have a red trek 8900 so i dont think i want another red bike. how about yellow? i am open to anything give me some suggestions.
P.s. hope the pic shows up, i cant tell from work so let me know if you cant see it.

Yellow is an excellent bike color! You could always go with a color that no one else has, like maybe a dark color like hunter green, dark purple, or navy blue. And since the frame is lugged, I'd try and figure out a way to line the lugs after the powdercoat. The contrasting lug lining, really make the frame pop.
Yellow frame with dark blue lugs lines or green/purple/blue with gold or silver lugs lines would look great!

ohhh yeah yellow with dark blue lugs would be great. im thinking a really dark blue flake like almost black for the lugs and then like a ferrari yellow for the rest of the bike (since it has a ferrari seat)

But in such small doses the blue will just look black. I like the look of a dark bike, where it looks black in some light, and blue or purple from another angle. With silver lug lines, because the silver will reflect some of the blue, and take on a blue cast. Changing colors everywhere.
Another color I have never seen on a bike, but that I really like, is simple blued steel, basical gun metal blue. And to me, a fixie, being simple, wants a really simple paint scheme. You don't need flashy colors to make people say 'wow', that single sprocket does it.

Gordon has the right idea. Fixie and simple paint scheme go hand in hand. Blued steel with silver lined lugs would be great!

hmm im thinking blued steel with white pearlescent lugs although i might have to switch seats with my mtb which is the same selle italia seat but in black with chromium rails. (although im wary of carbon rails on a MTB even at 130lbs) lest it look to much like a superman paintjob with the red seat on it.
