View Full Version : Tour de Hampden (xmas light ride) ...
Last night Mark S, Amvision, Zeytin and I all rolled through 34th street in Hampden, Baltimore, MD. The Christmas light displays were pretty cool and some; pretty rediculous.
We cruised around the surrounding streets and gabbed while we enjoyed the lights. After we had our fill of the wonderous wattage we all stopped in a local cafe/restaurante for tea & coffee.... & nachos with chilly, where upon we learned that Mark S loves beany chilly. :o And we ended up chattin' away until 10pm. Mark had to make a 15mile ride back to his house afterwords... you make it home ok Mark?
Here are a few photos from last night.
Merry Christmas!

Thanks for the photos. As you know, I am camera-phobic and technologically inept. But, one of these days I will borrow my daughter's digital camera and figure out how to post a few of my own. The "Star of Bethlehem," aka my Niterider Blow Torch, looks pretty cool in the photos.
I made it home with no problems last night. In fact, I found that riding home at 10:30 p.m. is a lot easier than doing it at 6:30 p.m. -- there is a lot less traffic. A deer almost took me out on Greenspring Valley Road, but they are likely to attack at any time of day.
I enjoyed meeting Zeytin and riding again with AMvision. All in all, it was a very good night. Merry Christmas.
zeytin 12-23-2004, 06:58 AM Great photo's RB, I love the one of Marks light zooming down the street...Christmas Ghost! I really enjoyed meeting and riding with all of you. I hope we'll be able to ride together more often. AMvision I am looking forward to that sesame pasta recipe you told us about.
I had a really good time and the weather turned out fantastic, after the really cold temps. earlier in the week riding in 50+ degrees last night was fantastic.
I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas!

OK, back from the holiday...
I had a great time with you all too, Mark it was a pleasure to ride with you again as well, and Zeyten, meeting you- I am also looking forward to doing some more riding together, just drop me a schedule.
I am actually going to reveal the recipe to all (Zeyten I hope this does not make you feel less special for recieving it)
(all ingredients are preferably organic)
3 carrots
1 bunch of scallions
1 package linguine - I like to mix spinach ling w/ the semolina
--after cooking noodles (al dente), pour
3 tbsp (thats table spoons, the bigger one) of sesame oil
3 tbsp soy sauce/tamari
2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
1 tsp hot chili oil ( to taste, I like it hot)
1 TBSP sugar
3 tbsp toasted sesame seads ( I like to use black and white, its pretty)
Mix well when noodles are still hot
then when pasta has cooled a bit add your Jullianned carrots, use the (U) looking thing on your cheese grater and finely chopped scallions (wash them then keep them in a bunch to chop)
at this point you should be ready to scarf after that long base mile century you just did...
a tip if you get the sticky pasta thing--you shouldn't add oil to the pasta because the recipe already calls for enough, use a pot that is big and allows the pasta to float around and separate, also stand over the pasta for a few moments in the begining of its cooking to make sure and separate the pasta by hand with a fork.
Voila! (thanks Mark!)
if I misspelled vuala or even misspelled, any suggestions would be greatly appreiciated. :D

Amity:
I enjoyed riding with you again and thanks for the recipe. As PhilippeC (who usually does not post here, but is a regular on the general forum) can attest, I am the last person in the world who should be posting about the French language. But, I think that the word you are searching for is Voila. Once I get beyond Depart, Ravitaillement and Arrivee, my French largely is exhausted.
Bonne Annee (Happy New Year)!
P.S. My apologies to any francophones lurking here -- I don't know how to post with proper accents on Depart, Arrivee and Annee.

Thats funny. It seems at the same time you are communicating the feeling of jet lag.
Happy New Year to you too!
