Not sure where to post this, but here it is anyway. It definitely has modern components but I got lots of inspiration from this board in particular. I just took it out yesterday real quick for the first time in between Christmas parties :D. It's a 91-92 Serotta Colorado Tig. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, and it rides like any great Serotta should - solid. Weight is just over 19lbs, which is lighter than my mountain bike - I was afraid there for a while, fewf! More of a ride report later, in the mean time here are some pictures...

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year to all.

since it's the retro board, it's ok to do what i'm going to do:
"just get the original fork on that bike... NOW!"

And circumcise that steerer tube past the stem, man.

put that ugly wound up fork on that Serotta........Please, before the bike gods come down on you, find an F1.

Nice frame BTW

The proportions, lightness of line, of the frame and the components compliment each other. Even the saddle and graphics are well integrated. The fork has an aluminum crown, which echos the lugged frame.

But yeah, around here with the retro-grouches and purists, the original steel fork, with the nice fully sloping crown lug, would be the most faithful to the original. But you make no pretense at restoration. It's a new bike, and that works, too. Bet it still rides like a Serotta! Enjoy!

Yeah, chop off that steering tube--or raise the stem.

Thanks for all the comments. Yeah, I realize this bike doesn't exactly fit in here. Ah well! I personally like the look of the straight wound up forks. I moved the stem up on the steerer tube as well, which fits me better. The purpose of this project wasn't to restore anything obviously, but just to build my first road bike.

Kid .... the bike rocks, looks great, has new life breathed into it and you did a fine job.

for the record I think wound up forks look cool and i've heard good things about them. the only thing the bike lacks is some dirt and scratches but im sure you can take care of that ;)

nice - enjoy it

ciao

Sleek and sweet.

I don't know that it needs to be a retro thing. No reason to not ride the best of all eras.

But then I'm no retro-purist.

What about the Mercian TIG'd funny bike on the board? You calling that not retro?

That looks fillet brazed, not TIG welded to me.
