I've got a brand new Truvativ Elita Triple crankset that I can't seem to sell (Getting zero response)

Personally, if I wouldn't use this on a road-only setup. But I'm wondering if there's any use for it in cross. (I would think the smaller bolt pattern might give more gearing variety and in worst cases the option to actually ride the toughest trails)

Before I keep trying to sell this thing, can RBR think of any other reason's I might want to keep such a part?

Do any of you have a triple setup on the CX bike? Or, any of you have triple crank arms and use them other ways?

I just realized I might have issues with the Truvativ BB I already have. The 2002 Elita Triple I have is geared 30x42x52 but requires a 118 BB spindle ... and the 2003 MTN BB I have is 113 wide.

This probably means I can't use all triple chainrings for the BB. Am I right?
Here is the truvativ manual for compatibility pecs:

This won' t be my primary cross race bike ... So, what gearing do you suggest I use for road riding with occasional singletrack and fireroad ? I think if I'm not worried about speed, I could probably get rid of the 52 for now. That leaves a 30x42 which I could probably upgrade to a bigger pair.

Please advise. Thanks.

the triple comes in handy when riding your cross bike like a mountain bike up steep unrelenting climbs. The 3rd ring on the cx is usually similar to riding the middle ring on a mtn bike. If you are never riding in such conditions, the triple is mostly useless. You'll never use it in a race.
