can i use a set of Shimano bar end shifters with a Campy rear derailleur? would it matter about the cassette as well? i am switching over to Campy on a TT bike, but don't want to give up my Shimano splinded wheels and was giving a pair of the S shifters. thanks for any info. k
I assume you are referring to 9 speed? The cable pull on shimano shifters is not compatible with a campy RD.
For a 9 speed TT bike, I can't see the advantage of switching to campy.
Campy is dedicated to 10 speed systems. If you want to convert to campy, get campy 10 speed bar end shifters, a 10 speed rear derailleur and chain, and a conversion cassette, from American Classic or Wheels manufacturing. The cost can be kept down by using a Cenatur RD.

Another possibility is a shiftmate that can change the cable pull, but none of the shiftmates will adapt to a shimano 9 shifter, campy RD and shimano cassette, you'd still need a 10 speed conversion cassette to use the model #2 adapter. Then only 9 speeds would be available.

thanks for the reply, was wondering if anyone was going to. it's going to be ten speed, campy rear derail and a wheels Mag Cassette, just had on hand the "S" bar ends and was wondering if they could be used, didn't want to screw anything up trying to dial it in. is the ten speed stuff the same, as far as the cable pull being different. thanks, mark

Yes, all Campy 10 speed is compatible. Doesn't matter what level of component you buy. Of course none of it shimano compatible, other than there have been reports that the shimano 10 chain works fine on a campy system.
