Last night, I saw the presentations after the Inaugural Luncheon on C-Span. Trent Lott's presentations to the President and VP sounded like something from QVC ("beautiful, hand etched hurricane globes from Lenox . . . with sterling silver bases -- come over and stand by them . . ."). Same with the spiel on the party favors ("blue bowls with handcrafted pewter rims . . ."). I was waiting for a breakaway screen with an 800 number where we could order the same things for $XXX per month. I thought that the whole thing was pretty tacky.

BTW: I thought that the President's short remarks at the luncheon were much better than his Inaugural address. He should just get rid of the long, scripted speeches and go with something short and to the point.

Did he mention freedom? Listening to his speech yesterday reminded me of my undergrad days when we would put on a tape of the Grinch Who Stole Christmas and drink everytime the word who was spoken.

What happens to all the decorations from the parties? Do they auction it off, give it away as party favors? Just wondering what they do with millions of dollors worth of stuff.
