Need some shoe info.
What brands of shoes are fairly wide in the toe. I kinda like the fit of Pearl Izumis but would like something maybe just a tad bit wider.
How do shoes like Sidi, Northwave, Nike just to name a few run in the toe box.
I really like the look of the northwaves but fit is the most important thing.
Wife got me a pair of Adidas Frosco for christmas and they were horrible, way to narrow in the toes.

The standard would be the sidi "mega" models. I have owned a few pair and they have adequate toe room. For some reason my feet do not appreciate sidi's though.
Other alternatives to wide toe box shoes for me are the specialized carbon pro's and my current favorite: the nike "lance" shoe. A previous pair of nike road shoes did not seem to provide the additional room in the toe box but the "lance shoe is wider.
I have been very impressed with this shoe. If I am not mistaked, nike does not manufacture the "lance" shoe.

You might look at Carnac - they have a reputation for having a lot of room in the toe box. A lot of the Italian brands have a tendency towards narrowness in this area. Oh, regarding the Nike "lance" shoes: the higher end Nikes are made in Italy by DMT (not sure about the width issue with these); you might wish to check ot DMT shoes as well.

had my specialized carbon comps for 6 months now and definately the widest shoes i've found (cant get sidi megas in england) and dmts werent wide enough for me. for the first time in my life i can ride for over 4 hours with out my little toes going numb!

would recomend them but worth trying as many as you can.

Gaerne runs wide.

Duegi tends to narrow.

I have the carbon Arcs and they are just between the SIDI Mega and SIDI regular except they fit me better through the arch and in the heel. Very nice shoe and reasonably priced.

I have worn Gaerne's for years - where on earth do you find them now-a-days?

Haven't seen a pair in a store any time recently.

A small little mom&pop shop in Tampa, Joe Haskins had 'em. Now I just got back into cycling last year after being off the bike forever so my experience is limited. Anyway went shopping and found the Veneto for like $50, they fit my narrow-heel wide-front feet well and feel as good as any other shoe I've ever owned.

These guys have them online:

Anyway, as good as my experience has been with their cheap shoe, I'm looking forward to moving up to even better.

The Specialized Carbon Comps are wider in the toe box. I wear normal to wide dress shoes and the Specialized is nicely in between a regular and wide shoe. Be careful with size though. I wear a 1/2 size smaller in the Specialized than in any other brand.

Thank you guys for the referral to the Gaernes.

I lucked out a few years ago when one of the racing stores in my area was closing, I grabbed all the Gaernes in my size, Now I'm starting to think it's time to search 'em out again.

The DMT ultimax is worth a try. These are super light, super stiff, AND super comfortable.
They are wider as well. There is a new DMT also called the "flash". Paired with Look Keo's the DMT ultimax is astonishing especially when coming from heavier pedals and less stiff shoes.
