Any ideas for 32nd bday of a pregnant wife. I'm coming up empty and I only have 4 days left to come up with something.

She's active, but doesn't bike at all.

Help!

If you really want to make "points", get her a "thong" swimming suit, a work out tape, and a set of shocks.
Ps..... Some women cry with joy when they get really great gifts.

You have your hobbies, she must have hers. I like adult gifts to be in the category of something we use, but in a strata we wouldn't allow ourselves to reach. The assos jacket instead of the pearl. The hand made stainless steel and oak garden spade instead of the home depot shovel. The really nice photo paper. The 25 yo balsamic. The fancy cotton duvet with the obscene tpi #.

Oh, and kind bud. Thirty-somethings who might have toked a little in college but aren't sufficiencly plugged into the criminal element to have the hook-up, they go gaga over a little herb in a nice laquer case. Your wifey is pregnant, so you might save that idea for some other time.

A "day of beauty" at a spa -- nails, hair, massage, all that stuff.

Yeah that's my usual route as well. Trouble is most of her hobbies and things she really enjoys are on hold until post baby ... dance, hiking, sushi. I'd like to avoid getting her something she won't be able to use until she's had the kid.

January/February birthdays are kind of a pain as well since I pretty much cleaned out her "wish list" for christmas presents.

thanks for the thoughts though. She does like fancy Asian things though .... hmmmm .....?

Yeah that might be a good one ... they must have some special maternity package at those fancy pants spa joints down in the Back Bay here in Boston. Have to look into that one.

Although traveling when pregnant is not as fun as before, you are coming to the end of your time to travel alone for a while (even if you have someone with whom you can leave the baby, if your wife is like mine, she won't want to leave it or will call home every hour while you are away after the baby comes). The trip does not have to be too far from home or too exotic -- just a change of pace for a few days. To copy off of Doug's spa suggestion, going to a place for a day or two that has a spa, indoor pool, etc., would be nice.

Definately tell the spa that she's pregnant...there are certain treatments she can't have because of that fact. It would suck if she showed up and they had to turn her away.

Thanks I was hoping some of you ladies would pipe up. I'm going to dig into the spa thing.

So what do you ladies think of this joint?

Looks like they even have a pregnancy massage.

Should I go with a gift certificate that would cover say a massage, manicure and maybe skin treatment thingy and let her choose or just get her something specific and make the appointment and everything?

They obviously do well enough to afford a good web designer. I'd go for it. Get her the pregnancy massage, facial, manicure and pedicure (if its too much, or if she's weird about her feet, then drop the ped.) Facials are awesome, I would definately include one.

Appointments depend on the spa. Ask them whether its best to make appointments. If its an all inclusive day spa and there is a sudden run on manicures, would she miss out?

Hey,
I'm chinese... well, actually Canadian-Chinese, would she fancy me? ;) Just don't tell my wife (heehee). Seriously, get her something she would never buy herself, not baby or family related. What about tickets to a musical or the theatre? Does she like classical or jazz? Anything special concerts coming soon to where you live? My wife loves the outdoors, but really appreciates getting something non-outdoorsy. The spa is great idea, but if you've already done it...

Put it this way, I have a 2 year old and a 11 month old. The spa day was a hit several times. One here had a "pregnancy package." My bet is that no matter what you actually buy, she can exchange it for something else, nails/hair for massage, etc. I'd just offer to make the appointment, and let her decide. Odds are she won't want to go when you think she wants to. If you really want brownie points, offer to drive her there and back, too.

It's darn near impossible to buy clothes, maybe not even jewelry, if there's swelling. If she's a little geeky, and you don't have one, a digital camera would be nice (after the baby is born).

Active, huh?

I think you can't go wrong with a spankin' new Lawnmower. Perhaps one of those neat folding ladders... now there's the ticket.

At least make it a riding mower, then.

You're dangerous.

Nice ...

No lawn though. Allong those lines. Maybe I can get her a new shovel for all the damn snow in Boston this year.
