Can anyone recommend some good places to ride down that way. I've got a good atlas of the state, but it's not as good as experience. I'm looking for anything that's not too heavy on the traffic. I'll take any off road suggestions too.

Beautyful area, my girl friend is from Clinton, try going out towards Killingworth, its back woods, good area for bikers, litle traffic. Go east towards clinton....I cant think of the names of the roads, Old Saybrook is a nice area, you might see me riding on the weekends there or this summer.

There is a host of different kinds of rides in the area. The east side of the river has some decent hills – 3800ft total vertical climb over my 25 mile loop. If you stick to the coast great sights and no climbs. Their is great cyclocross and mountain biking in Cockaponsett State forest. All within 10 miles of OS.
