This would be the 1st. Im in my 40s, and pretty strong. I'd do the century with 5 others from a groups of folks ive ridden with. I ride dirt and road. Ive also participated in 2 MTB endurance events as a memer of a team.

How should i train? i ride alot but not in long distances. How can this help me do better in building enduranceendurance events?

You will learn that you can complete the distance.

I am not certain of what distances you are use to but the last 20-30 miles can be tough if you are not use to longer distances and if you hit it too hard early in the ride.

If it is your first, do not think of it as a race. I would be very careful about sticking with your buddies. If one of them ups the tempo a little then you are stuck riding a tempo a little higher than you should and then pay for it during the last 20 miles. Take the first 60 miles at a pace lower than you normally ride. After 60 miles you will be happy you did.

Stop to eat and drink during the ride. Most riders can only go 2 hours or so without taking on fuel. If you don't fuel up during the long ride you will BONK big time. Your body will force you to slow down to the rate your body can convert fat and protein to fuels, which is about 12-14 mph for most people (and you will feel very bad while doing it)

Once you do a couple, and know what to expect, then focus on time and racing or pacing your buddies
