I know its been discussed here but I did not pay any attention since I did not have Carbon wheels at the time. Now I do.

So should you use Carbon Specific Pads? Why? Which Pads?

I got a used set of Lew Wheels (same as Reynold Stratus) and I don't want to ruin them by being too tight to get the right brake pads.

ME TOO! I just got LEW's as well. I was in the same boat, race tomorrow. The Salmon Cool stops or the Zipp pads are supposed to be optimal. However I just bought some new regular pads (all I had local) as they will work fine just wear a lot faster. Only thing I know that you have to do is run seperate pads except the Zipps which can be swapped between Alu and Carbon without a problem apparently.

Kool Stop make a carbon specific pad that works well. Not sure but they may be identical to the Zipp pads.

From what Nimble told me when I bought my wheels, the problem isn't the pad ruining the wheels, it is the carbon rim ruining the pads. Dave at Nimble told me the carbon heats up the pads very fast compared to aluminum and under heavy braking such as decents, the pads will wear at a very fast rate. I can attest to this as I ruined a new set of Dura Ace pads doing one very hilly century. I quicly switched to Kool Stop Salmon pads. They were perfect for all conditions.
