Hi all,

I am looking for a new frame and have been swayed by the CAAD7 and CAAD8. In my research I have found some sellers advertising that their BB isn't Hollow Tech compatible. Does that mean that some frames have different sized BB then others.

I have an FSA compact crank that I love and it works fine with my full Ultegra set up on my Jamis Eclipse. I'm pretty sure that I won't have any trouble fitting that crankset with the new Mega Exo BB on the CAAD 7/8 frames but I wanted to be sure before I bought one on Ebay.

Thanks,

Sean

I just swapped my Ultegra cranks for a Bontrager MegaXO (Truvativ's) triple crankset on my 6/13. The only real issue I ran into was tweaking the front deraileur a little because of a different cahin angle.

IIRC Cannondale makes two sized BB. One for the Hollowgram and one for everything else. My Caad 8 is 68 mm English. When I was looking at 613's the Hollowgram bikes had a larger BB shell.

Joe,

What drive train are your running with your Mega EXO crankset? Is it the compact?

Did you buy an R1000 or R5000?

Thanks,

Sean

I bought the R5000 last week. I have the FSA compact and D/A 10. Runs great!

Joe,

I don't know if you've been following these threads:

FSA COMPACT PROBLEM (http://forums.roadbikereview.com/showthread.php?t=25165)

FSA compact problesm (http://forums.roadbikereview.com/showthread.php?t=23319)

The original posters are claiming that they just can't get their FSA compact to shift with DA 10. I really love my FSA compact and I'm running it without any issues on an Ultegra 9 drivetrain. I like the R5000 with the compact setup and am thinking of getting one this spring but I'm concerned about the compatability with DA 10.

Just curious why others are claming problems? My guess is that the Front Der's weren't set up properly or they aren't shifting correctly.

Are you running 50/36 or 50/34?

Lastly, do you have some photos of your new R5000? I'd love to see them. Blue or grey?

Thanks,

Sean

Sean,

I read them as well.... I have the 50/36 and I have not had any problems. I did have to tweak the the front DR but that I suspect is the fault of the LBS and not the crank. I was worried as well after I read that but since it was "factory installed" I think there may have been some compatabilty testing before Cdale put these on their bikes since they need to be able to stand behind what they sell.

Now that I have put about 200 miles on and got everything dialed in I have no issues to report.

I will shoot some pics and get them up soon.
