Influenza virus cross the species boundry from Human to Duck, mutate and cross back anew. Since asia eats duck like we eat chicken, they have huge duck farms where said transfers / mutations most likely will occur. We're supposed to get one that will rival the influenza epidemic of the early 1900's, meaning many will die. Is this the one? svend 03-07-2005, 01:54 PM as all flus are avian and all come from Asia. Is this the one? they are always predicting the next big pandemic....one happens by every 100 years or there abouts so I would say statistically we are due...scary thing about this latest strain is that the fatality rate so far is 7/10....if it should truly make the jump retaining its lethality we will see something very medieval, the likes of which very few can remember, especially in the third world where access to vaccines will lag far behind. I hope this is not the one. |
