I posted on craigslist looking for a classic Italian frame to build up--something older, for a retro ride.

No answers yet with Italian frames, but somebody made a tentative offer of a Portugese-built Flandria.

Anybody know anything about them? I know they were a great team way back in the day (Maertens, Zoetemelk, Kelly), but don't know if I should expect any difference in quality, etc., between Belgian and Portugese frames.

Anybody?

Added later: I see that Sheldon Brown suggests that the Portugese-made frames are from clunker bike-boom bikes. Doesn't sound like much of an endorsement.

Sheldon Brown might be right about those Portugese Flandrias. I worked in a shop during the ' 70s bike boom and various low-end Flandrias were around, including some Belgian made ones. All I can recall is being seriously unimpressed with the workmanship, paint, etc.
