I am currently fixin up my fathers early 1980's Bianchi. I have a new paint job on the frame, but now it is time to clear coat. I was going to apply the clear coat and put vinyl decals on top. Can anyone recommend a clear coat spray that i could find at any local Auto parts store or Hardware store. Thanks.

This would depend on how nice a paint job you have but I just used some clear top-coat in a rattle can from the local chain auto parts store with nice results. It was a 70's bike with original worn paint with decals on top of the original clear. I had repaired a top tube dent and rattle canned a panel to cover the repair. I wanted to blend everything best I could and preserve the original decals. Anyway, the can clear coat went on nice and smooth without any orange peel. I was able to shoot about 3 coats from a small can, letting each coat dry about 20 minutes. It looked very good, but again this was old paint that already had flaws. If you have a "real paint job" I would probably take it to a body shop and have them shoot it for you. Would probaly be pretty cheap, and they can get a enough coats on for you to color sand if you wanted to.
