Velonews is carrying a story (http://www.velonews.com/news/fea/7753.0.html) about Hein Verbruggen badmouthing Dick Pound and WADA for their lack of objectivity:I don't care about Mr. Pound because he is not objective. ... The blood transfusion method is not validated yet, but we do the tests for our own use. ... Yes, WADA should criticize a federation when they're not working well, but they are neither impartial nor objective. ... Pound's the sheriff who shoots everything that moves. WADA should be above all that and he should establish proof before he speaks. ... Athletes have the right to defend themselves even if it's with the cheapest excuse. You only punish when it's proven - that's when you hit them.

he's saying that they contacted Phonak about Hamilton failing autologous blood tests - so they wrote to them so that what - Phonak could warn Hamilton he'd been found out and he wouldn't do it again? So Verbruggen is basically suggesting that teams get a warning and be able to hush up their wrongdoings and then, hey, should they get caught by somebody elses tests that they are innocent? And this from a man who makes such a great deal about the 'ethics code' of the new ProTour. That'll be another excuse for the big teams to do as they like and have it conveniently hushed up if they promise not to do it again, or hang a couple of riders out to dry and teams wash their hands of any involvement as has happened with Aqua e Sapone.
Verbruggen has absolutely no committment to getting rid of doping in the sport - all he wants are more bucks and the greater glorification of Hein Verbruggen. He's corrupt and he needs replacing.
