All,

I am thinking of purchasing a 04 look 461. I am 5'9" inseam 84cm, arm 61cm and torso 142cm. So it's 51 vs. 53cm. According to Zinn you have to take the sloping top tube into consideration. What affect does this have? What size would everyone reccomend? Personal experiences?

Cheers,

P

Based on your height and inseam, which I assume is a cycling inseam, I would guess you have a saddle height of about 73cm? The 51cm would certainly be the smallest you could ride and the 53cm is more likely to fit properly. I have an 83cm inseam and 71cm saddle height. I ride a 51cm. The head tube length is 120mm, but the headset increases that to 135mm. I use a 1.5cm spacer and an 84 degree stem to produce a handlebar height, measured vertically from the ground to the top of the bar, of just over 87cm.

I suspect you would want the slightly larger 53cm frame, since the head tube is 2.3cm taller. The "reach" on this frame is only 5mm longer (not 15mm), since it has a more relaxed 73.5 degree seat tube angle.

The listed size is exactly the same as if the frame had a horizontal top tube, measured center to center. The TT length is als measured horizontally, just like any other frame. You can ignore the slope, particularly on the 53cm, since it's only 2cm.
