New "Synapse" connects riders to all-day comfort and no-compromise, lightweight-performance in one sophisticated road machine.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Cannondale Headquarters, Bethel, CT.) - Imagine a full-carbon fiber performance road bike that has an answer for every need. In the flats it smoothes out road vibrations like a Cadillac, when out of the saddle - sprinting or climbing, it responds instantaneously to every stroke of the pedal. And, on twisty descents, it intuitively hugs every turn.

Only Cannondale can deliver the Synapse innovations. "There are a lot of carbon fiber bikes out there," says Matt Mannelly, President of the Cannondale Brand. "None truly integrate both performance and comfort into one consummate ride for the performance cyclist. This is carbon fiber as only Cannondale can do it."

The ride quality is what truly sets the Synapse apart from other carbon fiber bikes on the market. Today, depending on the frame, full carbon fiber bikes are either ultra-light but too stiff and extremely uncomfortable - or ultra-comfortable but too forgiving, which makes for a pedal stroke that isn't efficient and gives a very 'dead' like ride quality. The goal of Cannondale engineers with the Synapse is to connect the two qualities of stiffness and comfort in order to build a comfortable ride that also performs.

In order for the Synapse to achieve a perfect ride quality balance, Cannondale is introducing two 'industry first' frame technologies: Triaxial Hourglass seat stays combined with Cannondale exclusive S.A.V.E technology (Synapse Active Vibration Elimination) in the chain-stays and fork provide a pinpoint balance of vibration absorbing comfort and lateral performance stiffness. The result is a bike that will turn half-hour rides into half-day rides and half-day rides into all-day excursions.

The Synapse frame is also unique because of an exclusive partnership with a leading carbon fiber bike producer in Asia. "Our U.S. based plant in Bedford, PA is a world class manufacturer of high performance aluminum and high performance integrated carbon fiber and aluminum bicycles. For the Synapse we chose a strategic manufacturing partner who is a world class producer of Full Carbon Fiber bikes," says Chris Peck, Director of Cannondale R&D and lead engineer on every Cannondale high-performance frame produced since the ground-breaking CAAD3 in 1997. "When it comes to production we will always choose the best partners - no differently than with our existing manufacturing partnerships with FSA, Answer Products, Fox, Shimano, SRAM or anyone else."

"As with every great Cannondale innovation, the Synapse is a result of the Cannondale product creation process. Cannondale engineers listen to our dealers, look at our existing product line, talk to consumers and then begin designing, engineering and developing. We then subject product to the most rigorous testing procedure in the industry," says Peck. "The Synapse frame is a Cannondale original, designed and engineered by Cannondale from the ground up."

"The Synapse fills a void in the marketplace," says Matt Mannelly. "Whether it's a long weekend group ride or a century ride, the Synapse is a sophisticated, no-compromise solution for people that spend long hours in the saddle."
