View Full Version : A De Rosa Dual is calling my name

My favorite LBS is selling a 57cm Dual at cost- @ $1600 frame and fork and HS. They will hold it for me but I have so many question marks. As they are no longer a dealer of De Rosa, they have no other built bikes to feel out the geometery. It's a 57 ct with a 57tt. which will probably fit pretty well. My Look is a 57 and the Cannondale 56 (which feels bigger.)

I have questions about what size I should really be on... the Wrench Science website puts me on a 54. I actually bought a 54cm Fuji Pro last week for it's Dura 10 parts (will sell off the rest) but haven't had a chance to pick it up and check out the sizing (before I sell it)

I've really been planning to be perfectly fitted, if going to a custom builder (probably steel/carbon) for my next frame, but the Italian exotic draw is strong. A great deal to boot. Those DA10 parts would fit on it perfectly. Any thoughts

Get on her now and see how she feels. You can try out a buddy'd bike or ride a 57 at a bike shop can't you? Italian bikes are sweet! Check that top tube length and see if she really is 57cm. In the past I've found Italian frame top tubes to be shorter than the size they claim to be.

It's a frame, not built up; and having my own groupo, I can't really ask them to build it up and then strip it down.
Does anyone have a DeRosa?

I ride a Merak in 52cm sloping, go to the De Rosa website & check the geometry. The 52cm sloping has a 56cm top tube (c to c). I believe the Dual has the same geometry as a Merak.

My usual ride is 56cm seat and top tube (non sloping) I am 6ft 1in with a 34 inch inseam. I fit the merak nicely, with a hell of a lot of seat post sticking up ;-)

I would think the 57 is a bit big for you if Wrench Science have you on a 54!

Although it would be a cool frame, if it's the wrong size DON'T DO IT. You'll be so p*ssed off. The price sounds good though.

Good luck

Not sure how the geometries compare between a Neo Primato and Dual, but I ride 54 cm NP. Wrench science also recommended this size for me. I'm 5'9" with a 31 inch inseam. The 54 is dead on for me.

Probably similar. I'm 5'10" and a 32" inseam. What size stem do you use? I'm riding on 1cm on my 56 and 57. Before I had a 120mm (and stretched out like a greyhound) on the 56cm bike and steering was anything but neutral.
Wrench Science recommended a 120mm for the 54 if I recall.
I'm picking up the 54cm Fuji today, but don't want to rain ride it (it's treatening outside) since I'm going to sell the frame off.
