I am doing a two week RT 66/Grand Canyon/Las Vegas sightseeing and riding vacation

I will be in Tucumcari for a couple of nights
I will be in Williams for 2-3 days

I am looking for suggestions on 25-35 mile road rides in these areas. I was also wondering if there is road riding around the Grand Canyon.

I am going to Vegas for a few days as well and want to ride Red Rocks and Valley of Fire
I want to mostly ride road but I will bring my Mt bike and maybe ride near Boulder City/Bootleg canyon and I think Blue Diamond is an option as well.
Lake Mead?

Any suggestions on the Tucumcari and Williams/ GC or any others ?

thanks

If you camp at Ten X campground(great place) 2 miles south of Tusayan. Its about 5 miles outside of the entrance to the canyon. Then about 3 miles to the edge. You can road bike all around GC and enjoy the nice ride from Bright Angel in Grand Canyon Village to Desert View on the other end a distance of 26 miles. So you can easily put in 40 miles. We took mtn bikes but next time road bikes. If you take a mtn bike, I'd recommend taking fire road ###, can't remember the three numbers but its clearly marked in town of Tusayan. This dirt road is not technical but very scenic. 16 miles on the fire road gets you to a fire watch tower. Climb to the top and say hey to the firewatcher. They give great info and views. You can then ride all over the place on trails around the tower and by the canyon. BTW, the entrance to the park from there is free. shhhh, don't tell anyone. This is all on the South Rim.

The North Rim is MTB country from what I have read. And best done May - Sept. I don't have first hand exp there.

Here is a link that gives some great info. http://www.nps.gov/grca/grandcanyon/index.htm

Have fun, its an amazing place.

Man, Tucumcari is going to be some hot riding. There isn't much out there, including population. I would consider coming the extra four hours to Albuquerque where there is some great riding. Tucumcari is hot, flat, and windy. I hit Tucumcari every summer when I do my route 66 ride from Albuquerque to Oklahoma City. It is a four day trek, and I spend the night in Tucumcari, Amarillo, Elk City, then to OKC. I have in-laws there, so I wait for wifey to show up and drive me home. It is credit card touring, but it is a nice way to get 600 miles in four days. The wind blows west to east prodominately when I do it, so it is an awesome tailwind ride too.
