The difference it 2.5mm. Go get a ruler and look at 2.5mm.

whichever you already own. If you are big and tall, 175 is just fine. It's nice to have equipment that you can interchange with your road bikes so you can borrow parts during the other bike's "off" season while you wait for replacements. I like to just get lots of shimano ultegra stuff and figure on throwing some of it away in a few seasons. I don't know where these people get the time to rebuild campy stuff, I've barely got time to wash my chain off.

What's on your road bike? What's on your mtb? If you're doing more trail type riding, go with what you have on the mtb. If you're racing, go with what you have on the road.

i'm not sure what bsdc is trying to say by checking with a ruler. i think that 2.5 mm can be quite a bit. go change your saddle height 2.5 mm in either direction and see what difference that makes. my opinion is like others here, don't change from whatever you ride the most. i think that cycloscott nailed it, if you are racing your cross bike then go with the same as your roadbike. trail riding then the same as your mt. bike. i have 175s on my road bike, mt. bike,TT bike, and cross bike.
