Hey - just wondering. Anyone suffering from alleriges at this time? Right before the Armadillo, my throat started to get scratchy. But during the ride and just after - no problems. However, Sat evening the drainage became a flow and I was constantly either sneezing, blowing my nose or hacking up mucus. Ugh! It was bad enough that I left work Mon before lunch - and I next to never leave work due to illness.

The only thing that seems to stem the snot flow is Actifed (I use a generic, btw). But it has side effects - it makes me cranky (!) and then sleepy. Not good, especially at work.

I used to think because I spend so much time outdoors on the bike that I was getting acclimated to the many pollens and molds that permeate Austin's air. But after this weekend - maybe not.

Amen, brother! My eyes water and my skin itches this time of year. My doc gave me Allegra and that really makes a difference.

For 10 months of the year, I don't wear glasses when cycling. April and May, I wear my Oakleys. If I don't my eyes turn bright red and itch like crazy.

I'm in San Antonio and I swear by Nasonex during allergy season. Prescription only, but one shot a day keeps my allergies at bay.

They're burning in Mexico and points south and the wind is blasting it into the region. I have noticed the brownish tint to the late afternoon sky. It isn't as pronounced as it was in 1998 but it is bad.

The histomine reaction (allergy) is often kept at bay during exercise. It's not surprising you did OK during the ride but worse that evening.I've had good luck with HEPA filters.

Try to find some local honey. Get some that is raw and unfiltered and see how that works for you. The closer to where you live, the better. Supposedly if you eat a tbls or two a day you will build up a tolerance to the allergens in your area. I put it in my green tea in the morning and on my oatmeal. I've been doing this for maybe three months now, and it seems to work for me. I was taking Allegra every day for a couple of years and now I don't take any. There have only been a few weeks this year where I've needed some prescription supplementation, e.g. Nasonex or Allegra et al.

Google "local honey" or something similar and you'll find a lot of info on it.
