OK, I think I need some help...I just moved from Florida to Bangor (Glenburn actually) and am looking for some road ride suggestions. I checked out the Maine DOT suggestions and the Bicycle Coalition of Maine, but it seems like the rides they suggest around the Bangor area are very urban. While that may be interesting, I would much prefer a more remote, less traffic-ridden route if possible. Climbs would be nice, distance could be almost anything as I can always make adjustments.

I'll probably hit the road tomorrow morning with a map and see where I wind up, but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, including tips on avoiding these damn Maine springtime potholes!

There is a free hard copy of this and other routes (I picked mine up at Rose Bikes in Orono). I know that Rose has regular group rides. Also calling any of the local shops will turn up other options/recommendations.
