from Campy Chorus Ergos to Record Ergos other than weight? I have the 2003 Chorus and like the silver aluminum levers, this is one area the carbonfiber doesn't do it for me so the carbon shifter levers just are a reason to upgrade and they have the same ballbearings.

I ride a bike with '02 Campy Chorus with Record Ergo levers and rear der. I think the only real difference is weight and appearance. I think the guts of the levers are the one and same. I thought about going full Record, but the owner of my LBS said this was the main difference between the two bikes (other than the Record BB). I like the feel of the Record Ergo's but I can't compare them to the silver Chorus...if you have money to burn I guess the upgrade would be nice, otherwise I spend my money doing something else......

I had '03 Chorus, and now I'm riding on '04 Record EVERYTHING with the Record carbon crank. The crank is thing I get the most out of. .VERY VERY stiff. The shifting is a little smoother.
However, there is never a "reason" to upgrade. You do it when you have money to burn; Which I did last year.

The problem with the Record levers is that by nature, levers are something that stick out. They are protrusions. If the bike so much as falls off a bike stand, or if it skips if you lean it wrong, the levers can crack from the impact. It happened to me. The alloy levers are much more practical. No human could detect the weight difference when riding.

I mean't the carbon levers are not alone a good reason to upgrade. The looks just don't do it.
