Any recommendations on a general book about road biking that would include advice about general bike maintenance, care, repairs and possibly advice about riding etiquette?
New to the sport and want to learn more
Thanks.

"Zinn and the Art of Road Bike Maintenace" is the best book I have for maintenance. I also have Bicycling Magazines bicycle repair. It's not that great of a book. Very basic and tries to cover too much (MTB & Road) in too few pages. Go with Zinn's book.
Zinns link (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1884737706/qid=1117165511/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl14/104-8059024-9147943?v=glance&s=books&n=507846)

Then again, you could always go for the Barnett's Manual, but that'll be over 1,000 pages - http://www.bbinstitute.com/manual.htm
I second Zinn's.

is "Zinn's Cycling Primer: Maintenance Tips & Skill Building for Cyclists", just out last year. Have only browsed it but looks great, is more general and probably just what you are looking for. I do have his road bike maintenance book and it is excellent...

You also might want to look at Zinn and the art of Mountain Bike Maintenance as well. It covers the road stuff well, and also hits on MTB. Also what I turn to more than not is Park's website:

For me it's the Big Blue Book of Bicycle Repair, by Park Tools. I found it at
www.excelsports.com and it's inexpensive too. 24.95 plus shipping.
Go to accessories then click books, videos, maps and scroll down.
As far as bike etiquitte, check with your local club. I always thought it was...
Don't let your front wheel overlap the back wheel of the bike in front of you.
Try to ride in a straight line, don't swerve or play around with your line.
Warn the others behind you of any obstacles, holes, etc. by pointing down to the object.
Warn riders behind you when the peleton or group is going to stop.
Pass on the left and say "on your left".
Don't tuck your jersey into your shorts.
Always wear your helmet.
Always carry a spare tube,pump,or CO2
I'm sure we can all think up some more.
