If one is a good fit on a 57-58 cm ETT road bike, does it reasonably follow that one might be looking for a 56-57 cm ETT in a more relaxed road geometry where the head tube is longer and the riding position somewhat more upright?

This seems reasonable to me since the upright position would close the base of the torso/arm/ETT triangle. I know that tube angles factor in here, of course. Thanks for your thoughts.

If you fit a 57-58 and want a more upright position, why not just change to a shorter stem with more rise? Or, if it's a new bike, they don't have to cut down the steerer as much. I got my bike with a long head tube but I don't know of any stock bikes that come that way.
