June 3, 2005—Boulder, CO— With the premier Grand Tour and three of the most dominant teams of the last five years in it’s corner, Hutchinson Tires announced today the release of it’s all new Tour de France Special Edition tire as well as three new Team Series tires with the Discovery Channel, Quick Step and Lampre/Caffita teams.
In negotiations throughout the early part of the year with it’s close Parisian neighbor and Tour de France promoter, the ASO, Hutchinson Tires dotted the I’s and crossed the T’s in a final contract giving them the official Tour de France tire rights for the next three years. Before the ink was dry, Hutchinson’s factory in Montargis, France was hand building the striking new yellow and silver tires in anticipation of overwhelming popular demand.
Using the same proven design that makes the Fusion Comp the most widely used and successful clincher tire in the Pro Tour peloton today, Hutchinson has incorporated the official colors of each of it’s partners into the tires employing its exclusive 4 EXTRUSION technology. Using this patented manufacturing technique, the colors are extruded into four bands that circle the tire giving it a very unique look and the most specialized cornering technology among high end race tires. Each tire is then finished with the placement of either the Tour de France Special Edition or Team Series Discovery Channel, Quick Step or Lampre/Caffita hot patch and packaged in appropriate race or team colors.
Distributors are receiving big quantities of tires this month and they will be appearing at dealers around the country in the coming weeks.
